Some residents of Labone and its environs have had their cars seized by the Ghana Police for alleged noise-making.  This follows complaints by some private car owners who claim they were arrested for breach of law.

“I was arrested last night and all they could tell me was that there is an order from above to arrest all loud cars and fast cars” according to one of the victims.

Another vehicle owner said  “This is a very personal experience, others have also been arrested and have been asked to reduce the noise on their exhaust and report back to the police” .

Some of the victims claim they were informed by the police that the noise emanating from their exhaust was too loud and disturbing. But according to them, these are cars they have paid duties on and wonder what the rationale could be. A few of the affected car owners were given a caution note and asked to reduce the sound of their engines to what the police describes as an “efficiently silent level”.
