Cousin to President Akufo Addo, Gabby Asare Otchere Darku has congratulated Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners for establishing Ghana’s first wholly-owned cement factory, Dzata Cement. In a tweet early today, Mr. Otchere Darku urged Ghanaians to support him to succeed. He said “We must support our own to succeed”

” You believed in it, you worked at it”. Said Mr. Otchere Darku. His endorsement of Dzata cement follows an earlier visit by Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen and Senior Minister, Yaw Osarfo Marfo who have both praised the business mogul for his achievement and foresight.

According to Gabby, plans must be made to support the efforts of Mr. Mahama to succeed.” The fight is not among ourselves as Ghanaians but how we succeed in an ever-integrating Africa, in an unforgiving world of producers and others”.

Social media users including Facebook and Twitter have over the last 24 hours expressed delight over the establishment of what is Ghana’s first wholly-owned cement factory with the hashtags BuyDzatacement.

The technology deployed for producing the cement is from Germany and was developed by Haver and Boecker.

The cement grade being produced by the plant is ordinary Portland cement, which is imported for the plant and then bagged.

The plant has the capacity to produce an average of 120 bags per minute from the two production lines.
