Economist, Dr. Kofi Amoah is urging President Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency compel those actively aspiring to succeed him to leave his cabinet. The race over who succeeds Akuffo Addo as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections has intensified. Supporters of Vice President Dr. Bawumia and Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, the two who have so far been tipped as frontrunners have stepped up their campaigns with posters and fliers of endorsement all over social media.

Speaking on the issue, Dr. Amoah said the trend is worrying and detracting. He has therefore advised the President to possibly replicate what President Kufuor did in 2007 when he asked all those aspiring Presidential hopefuls in his cabinet to leave.

“Prez Addo may do a Prez Kufuor and ask those actively aspiring candidates to leave his cabinet and be replaced with others with undivided attention,” says Dr. Amoah.

In his view, the business of the state requires full mental focus and action to get progress.

The Business mogul also urged Ghanaians to give the President a chance noting that democracy requires winners and losers to unite after an election for progress to be possible
