US-based Ghanaian lawyer and Professor of Accounting, Kwaku Asare, says despite efforts by President Akuffo Addo to scale down the number of ministerial positions, there is still room to further prune down the numbers.

The President yesterday submitted to Parliament for the approval, through the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, a list of names for appointment as Ministers in his new government. The Presidency has indicated that the total number of Ministers to be appointed in his second term will not exceed 85. This is in sharp contrast with the 126 ministerial appointments that characterized his first term in office.

Taking to his Facebook page , Professor Asare appealed to the President to look hard and cut another 25 more to bring the number down to 60. Obvious targets include Information, Parliamentary Affairs, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs (get government out of Stool and Church affairs), Fisheries (put under Agriculture), Railways (put under Transportation), Public Enterprises (duplicates role of DG of SIGA).
