The Trades Union Congress, Ghana has waded into the ongoing debate on proposed payment to wives of the First and Second gentlemen of the Republic. In a statement released and signed by the TUC Secretary-General, Dr. Yaw Baah, the current pay structure “seems to favor only politicians at the expense of other job holders in the larger public service in terms of salaries, allowances, and other job-related privileges”. The country’s largest labour organization in its statement asked the President to ensure that any such payments made to his wife and the wife of the Vice President are refunded immediately.
