US-based Ghanaian lawyer and Professor of Accounting, Kwaku Asare has expressed his views on the recent resignation of Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu. Mr. Amidu resigned on Monday, November 16 citing “the lack of respect of the independence of his office.” He said: “The events of 12/11/20 removed the only protection I had from the threats & plans directed at me for undertaking the Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions anti-corruption assessment report & dictates that I resign as the Special Prosecutor immediately”. But in a Facebook post, Kwaku Azar said Mr. Amidu should have stood his grounds and continued with the Agyapa investigation. Below is the full statement.
